In Print

My friend Sam told me that she'd seen my lamps in Period Living magazine. They had been submitted by one of my stockists Pheasant Mailorder who sell lovely things made in Yorkshire. Always nice to see my lamps in print...Don't cats just love helping you to read magazines! This is the handsome Tomsk.

Also Alisa just informed me she's seen my stuff in Skirt! magazine. I'd never heard of it...I'm on a quest to find out more! (Alisa kindly sent me over a scan. Thanks so much Alisa and thanks Skirt! editor Nikki).

Arts Festival Approaches

It's come around fast but it's coming to the time of the Hebden Bridge Arts Festival again. Check out the website to see the full programme of events and performances. The brochures are about town too. I'm happy to send one to anyone far away. The Hebden Bridge OPEN STUDIO's are open on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of July and the brochure for the trail is also available from many places around town including from Radiance (in a couple of days, once I've picked up my pile from the Tourist Info). I'll be opening my studio, not that it's not always open as it's in the shop, but I did want to join in and I'll be having my annual seconds sale (more details about that nearer the time)! There is an open studio website this year too so you can have a nosey at all the artists exhibiting this year.

A lovely day

I had an appointment at the Arvon writing retreat centre at Lumb Bank. This beautiful 18th century mill owners house used to belong to Ted Hughes and it's sits on the side of a steep valley near Heptonstall. They run writing courses all year round and people come to stay from all over the world to be tutored by all sorts of esteemed writers. They are having a bit of a spring clean at the moment and it was a hive of activity with decorators and plumbers in and out of all the rooms. Liz Flanagan, one of the new directors asked me to come and look at the rooms with view to me making them some new lampshades. I put some lamps up there last year but never got round to making the pendant shades. There are a lot of rooms and a lot of bare bulbs so I'll enjoy getting stuck into that!

On the way home I bumped into a friend who has her stables nearby. She let me ride back home on one of her horses! So I rode 'Sultan' which was lovely! This sort of thing doesn't happen often to me. I haven't ridden for years so it was a real treat! Her young daughter is a natural and rode 'Chere' bareback with her golden curls flowing and her colourful floaty skirt. What a picture! I love it when a day unfolds into something unexpected!
