Tiny Tree of Life

An Etsy customer asked to make a tree of life to go on her set of wedding fairy lights. They just arrived back from the laser cutters and they are really very sweet. They are only about 5cm tall.

I'm just waiting for my laminator to get back from the menders as it was a bit poorly last week and get swallowing my work. When it's back I'll turn these teeny trees into lanterns.

Fairy Lights are back on!

I have very good news. Whilst having a NewYear spring clean and sorting through my plan chest drawers that were piled high with paper we found quite a lot of my old fairy light paper - yes the one that had been discontinued and has prevented me from making fairy lights for the last few months. I feel a bit silly really that there has been all this fuss and actually there has been a supply of it hiding away in the back of the drawer all the time!

I have Matthew to thank for this. Matt has just started working at Radiance and the HN studio. He is very organised and tidy and has set to re-organising my workshop for me and doing lots of jobs that I have been meaning to to for ages. Another one of these jobs being taking photos of all the individual patterns for the fairy lights so that we can add them to the website and make ordering them a whole lot easier. Hopefully I'll be doing that later on today when I can get some technical help from my dear Robert. In the meantime here is a picture of the extras...

(later in the day) Here they are on the website. Hooray!

Homes & Gardens Feature

My personalised fairy lights are in Homes & Gardens magazine this month. They commissioned some for this photo shoot a few months back but it wasn't until today that I saw the finished result. I let out a little yelp on the bus when I opened the page! What a great picture. It is such a crying shame that I can't make any of them at the moment. In the New Year I WILL sort out my paper I promise and get them on the go again!

Wedding date lantern

I thought it would be nice if the last lantern on a string of named wedding lights had the couples wedding date on. We tried it out and it looks quite sweet.

What a busy week!

I think this has been the busiest week yet. I seem not to have sat down all week. It's all good though. Laura, on a work experience placement has been amazing (despite being full of cold and coughing and sneezing all week bless her) and it makes me wonder how I ever cope on my own for most of the week.

We have got a lot done together. We've made loads of lamps for the show and gift wrapped them them all. Yesterday the Not On The High Street winter catalogue came out with my personalised fairy lights in and I've had orders for seven sets already which I'm pretty gobsmacked about.

So it's been fairy light making central!

It's been nice to have a couple of glasses of wine this evening and chill out a bit....and tomorrow, no work...except fitting our kitchen floor. The new sink is in place and now time for the lovely floor. That'll make a nice change...

Mr & Mrs

I have just made these lights for Mr & Mrs Armsby. I havent done a 'Mr & Mrs' before as people usually write their first names. I like these, they're sweet. Look out for my fairy lights in the November issue of Perfect Wedding magazine which is out now. I'm yet to go and buy a copy. Looking forward to seeing them there.

70 reasons to buy handmade

Thanks to Poppytalk for using my 'Sarah & William' fairy lights in their '70 reasons to buy handmade' article. Sarah & William are friends of my friend Fiona and their names were the first that we made in lights. They got married last Saturday and had a fantastic day. Congratulation Sarah and William!

Gemma and Charlies Wedding Lights

Gemma and Charlie bought their names in fairy lights for their recent wedding. Gemma very kindly emailed me some photos today of the lights at the wedding. You can't see the lights close up but this photo gives you an idea of how they look from afar. Shame we can't see the face of the bride! Thanks Gemma. It all looks very lovely!

Blueberry Park

I have just finished making some personalised fairy lights for Karen at the lovely Blueberry Park, an online shop dedicated to unique and handmade products by British artists. The website is gorgeous and has some beautiful things on it. Karen is based in Leeds so I am lucky enough to have met her in person when she came over to Radiance to choose some lamps to put on her website. Thats when she fell in love with the fairy lights and asked me to do some with her logo on. Karen keeps a blog too..if you go there check out her new header!!! She has her name in lights!

New Wedding Lights

These ones are going off to a big wedding magazine to be photographed...i won't say which one as Fiona, my wonderful PR girl is a bit superstitious about mentioning things before they go to print. In fact she'll probably tell me off for even saying that! (hee hee sorry hunny).

While we're on the subject of PR I'll just do a little song and dance about my Fiona. (la la la) Fiona Pattison's company is called Happy4PR. I have been working with Fiona for a couple of years now and she is amazing. I have always done EVERYTHING to do with my business but I didn't know how to do PR stuff so that side of things was lacking. At that point Fiona appeared like the Fairy Godmother and came into my shop one day waving her magic wand and she has been sprinkling fairy dust ever since. She's not just my 'PR', she is now also my good friend.

She has got me some brilliant publications, given me some fantasic ideas and is always out there pushing my business (even when I'm not). She is 100% committed to her clients and has tremendous energy for her business. She keeps me positive, keeps me looking towards the future...and cooks me tea on Thursdays! Here is her BLOG.
